Yemen's army foils alleged Al-Qaeda attack on pipeline
Yemen’s army successfully stopped two suspected al-Qaeda attacks on a gas pipeline that feeds Yemen's only liquefied natural gas export terminal Sunday afternoon, officials said. The Belhaf export terminal is connected to center field Marib Block 18 gas field production by a 320 kilometer pipeline. On Sunday at 1:50PM, the first attempted attack occurred at the pipeline 55km north of Belhaf, Yemen LNG Company said in a press release. A second attack occurred 20 minutes later, 33km north of the first attack. Both attacks were foiled by Yemeni soldiers. At least one of the suicide bombers was shot and killed.
