DETROIT — A restaurant employee shot and killed an armed robber in Detroit on Sunday.
The robbery took place at a Pete’s Grill Coney Island in Detroit on Sunday morning. A man walked into the restaurant with a gun and threatened the customers while waving the gun back and forth, WDIV Detroit reported.
“Next thing I know, I saw everybody getting down on the ground,” Robert Felton, a witness to the robbery told WDIV Detroit. “This guy was robbing the place. He had the gun on everybody. He was telling everybody, 'get to the register, I want the register.’”
An employee at the restaurant then pulled out a weapon opened fire at the robber, killing him at the scene. Police are investigating whether the evidence matches that of a self-defense shooting, according to WDIV Detroit.
