An Irish woman faced not one but three oncoming New York City Subway trains, and got away with only a fractured shoulder.
After a night out on the town, Mary Downey drunkenly staggered into 49th street station near Times Square, in Manhattan. She can barely stand up at this point and is dangerously close to the platform’s edge.
She lost her balance and fell onto the tracks below. She injured her shoulder in the fall, but miraculously was able to roll into a gap between the platform and the tracks, getting very dirty, but otherwise perfectly unharmed.
Two trains passed over her before the third train’s motorman saw her waving and hit the brakes. Paramedics safely removed her from under the train and took her to Bellevue Hospital.
She was treated for her broken shoulder and released to friends, where she took a cab home to Woodlawn in The Bronx.
