NSFW    As the first openly gay player drafted into the NFL, Michael Sam’s every action is bound to attract huge amounts of attention. So Oprah has decided to cash in on it by giving Sam a reality show.

Michael Sam’s attempt to earn a spot on the St. Louis Rams’ roster next year will now be videotaped, edited and remixed by Oprah and her camera crews as the former Missouri Tigers defensive end tries to earn a position on the Rams squad.

“Like every player out there working to make a team right now, my focus is on playing football to the very best of my ability,” Sam said in a press release. “I am determined. And if seeing my story helps somebody else accept who they are and to go for their dreams too, that’s great. I am thankful to Oprah for her support and excited to work together.”

Sam says he is determined to make the team, but that may be easier said than done as the Rams are already pretty stacked at Sam’s defensive end position.

There’s also a question of how much access the NFL will allow Oprah’s cameras. But the biggest problem Sam has now is that reality shows usually blow… but not that kind of blow.
