A Nevada man arrested on suspicion of vehicle theft at the University of Washington was found heavily armed and in possession of explosives. Police are still trying to determine his intentions. Campus police saw 21-year-old Justin Miles Jasper asleep in a pickup truck late on Tuesday. They ran a check of the vehicle’s registration but noticed nothing unusual.
Police received a call on Wednesday reporting the theft of a truck which matched the earlier vehicle’s description. Officers later spotted him driving through the campus and, after a brief chase, made the arrest. In Jasper’s possession police found a scoped rifle, shotgun, body armour and several molotov cocktails.
John Vinson, head of campus police described the arrest as ‘high-risk,’ but didn’t elaborate. The FBI have joined the investigation.
