STOCKPORT, UK — A nurse has been convicted of murdering two elderly patients and poisoning 20 others at Stepping Hill Hospital in Stockport, Greater Manchester. Victorino Chua, who came to the UK from the Philippines in 2002, sabotaged prescription medications and medical charts for years.

The two patients he murdered, Tracey Arden, 44, and Alfred Weaver, 83, were poisoned using saline drips contaminated by insulin. The insulin overdose plunged their blood sugar to dangerously low levels. Both died in July 2011.

A written confessions of sorts was found in Chua's house during a house search. A particularly chilling sentence in the note said: "I am a nice person, but there is a devil in me."

Chua has not shown any emotion or remorse during his murder trial. As the trial continues, background checks have revealed that his school records and other qualifications appear to have been falsified.
