A pair of window cleaners were left dangling 48 floors up the Donau City Tower in Vienna, Austria when the cradle they were standing on malfunctioned.
The day started out normal as the cleaners made their way up the side of Austria’s tallest building, the DC Tower 1 in Vienna. While shining the 48th floor windows, the cradle they were standing on malfunctioned, leaving the platform slanted at a 45 degree angle.
The window specialists clung for their lives while the cradle dangled 472 feet above ground in the strong wind. A crowd gathered at the base of the tower as a team of 30 firefighters came to the rescue.
The firefighters secured the platform and guided the men to safety through a ventilation shaft. The dangling duo escaped unharmed, although one of them was treated for shock.
