What caused this trainee pilot's Cessna to come crash in fine weather?

The trainee pilot believed to be in his 20s took in the single engine aircraft from Sultan Ismail Petra airport. He was flying alone. Conditions were fine.

For reasons not yet clear the aircraft lost altitude near Pengkalan Chepa and the plane made a hard crash landing beside a road.

The man, whose was not identified in local media reports suffered serious injuries. Some 30 minutes passed before rescue a rescue crew freed him from the wreckage. He was transferred to a nearby hospital for emergency treatment.
