A kitten narrowly avoided becoming fish food in a delightful role reversal when a large fish leapt from a pond in Japan and snapped at a kitten who had gotten too close to the water’s surface.
Japanese pond carp are placid animals. The beast which attacked this kitten, if not a carp, may be a pike, as some people speculate. Pike are belligerent fish known to have attacked even humans. They can grow to the monstrous length of up to a yard and have nasty, dagger-like teeth.
Whatever that fish was, it isn’t scared of cats. And that is one lucky kitten.
