What the Foul?
MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA — A video that emerged over the weekend could lead to more trouble for New Orleans Saints' linebacker Junior Galette. Criminal domestic assault charges were dropped against Galette in February, but his accuser filed a civil lawsuit alleging he assaulted and drugged her.
Over the weekend, Galette's reputation took another battering after a video emerged showing a person that strongly resembles Galette getting involved in a beach brawl which allegedly took place near Miami Beach during spring break 2013.
In the video, a group of people are seen throwing punches. But the shocking part of the footage involves an individual that appears to be Galette, 27, using a belt to strike various individuals, including a woman who was struck multiple times.
Galette's lawyer claims the man in the video is not his client, however photos were released online that allege to be from Galette's Instagram account and taken on the day of the incident, showing Galette and people who appear identical to the individuals featured in the video at a beach wearing the same clothing worn by the individuals in the video.
A spokesperson for the New Orleans Saints said the team and the league are looking into the video and will make a determination soon about how to proceed regarding the matter.
