This video will make you take the stairs instead of using an elevator from now on
A man was stuck in an elevator for 20 minutes, then rescued, only to be crushed by it seconds later as he turned to retrieve his belongings.
FUZHOU, CHINA — A tragic end to what was supposed to be an elevator passenger rescue occurred June 6 in Fuzhou, China. Two passengers, including 53-year-old Mr. Guo, became trapped in an elevator at a condo development for about 20 minutes around the third floor.
When the maintenance staff arrived and opened the doors, the passengers got off, but Guo turned around to get something he left on the floor of the elevator. It suddenly restarted and started descending, leaving Guo hanging halfway in the elevator car and ultimately crushing him to death.
There is no word on what caused the malfunction. The elevator is currently out of service pending a thorough investigation and inspection.
