Daniel Yealu had always aspired to become one of L.A.’s finest, but this past Monday night, he walked into the Wilshire Community police station and decided to recreate a scene from the Matrix instead.
Sometime around 8 in the evening, Yealu strolled up to the front desk in the cop shop, said ‘I have a complaint to file’, then pulled out a Glock 9mm and just started blasting.
While the motive for the shooting is unclear, investigators note that Yealu was a one-time police academy candidate, but was subsequently denied. Officers later found an AK-47 in his car and several other assault weapons in his home. His father says he saw no warning signs of the impending tragedy when they spoke last.
Yealu has been booked with bail set at $2 million, however he remains hospitalized listed in critical condition.
