NSFW    SAN FRANCISCO — Reddit has fired the moderator of its ever-popular Ask Me Anything subreddit, Victoria Taylor, who went by the handle /u/chooter.

The AMA subreddit has been temporarily changed to private, making it unusable. Two of the site's most popular posts are AMAs with President Barack Obama and an AMA with a man who has two penises. The news came down the wire right after a disastrous AMA on Wednesday with the Reverend Jesse Jackson, who stumbled over difficult questions from Reddit users.

The backlash from users of Reddit has been overwhelming, with hundreds of subreddits blocking their pages from users by also setting them to private. Other moderators have chosen not to blackout their pages for the good of the online community. The moderator for the subreddit Explain It Like I'm 5 said they're not participating in the blackout because they believe their subreddit is a place to learn.

The controversial decision to let Taylor go comes as many Reddit users have taken a strong disliking to interim Reddit CEO Ellen Pao, who has censored and banned certain subreddits she found to be inappropriate. More and more netizens are choosing to switch their allegiance to VOAT, a Reddit copycat website that promises not to censor content of any kind.
