CHINA — A woman had just moved back to China from California when tragedy struck.
A woman surnamed Lee, said her 8-year-old golden retriever was hated by her neighbors in China. She said they routinely threatened to kill her dog, reports The Shanghaiist.
Lee claims they added rat poison to chicken meat and spread it on her lawn where her pet used to play.
Lee said the dog ate just one bite and ended up dying a few hours later, screaming and crying, fighting to survive.
Lee said she took her case to the Chinese authorities but they dismissed her case, saying that hundreds of dogs die by poison on a daily basis.
She said that a number of Chinese netizens were accusing her of damaging the reputation of China.
Lee said she and the golden retriever were planning to relocate to Europe next year.
However, she will now fight for her dog and other animals as China currently has no laws to protect animals.
