The suspect, identified as Tan, was wanted for carjacking the vehicle he was being pursued in. Police tailed the suspect until he was forced to stop at a toll booth and was not able to advance due to cars blocking the road.

Police stepped out of their vehicles and surrounded the suspect’s car. One officer who climbed on top of the car was thrown off when the suspect accelerated forward. Despite the police firing warning shots in the air, the suspect accelerated in reverse, smashing into a police car.

Officers fired more shots, but this time they were directed at the carjacker. Efforts were made to resuscitate the suspect, but he succumbed to his injuries. Three cars were totalled and two officers were injured in the incident.
