“Search and rescue teams in the Peruvian Andes on Saturday (July 13) recovered the body of one of two Argentine climbers who went missing after an avalanche in the area last week,” according to Reuters. The body of 28-year-old Leonardo Gabriel Rasnik Maldonado was retrieved after it was found still attached to a safety line. Rescuers are still searching for 22-year-old Miguel Funes Gracia, who is believed to be buried deep below the ice and snow.

The two were reported missing last Wednesday. They were thought to have been killed after being struck by falling ice and snow while climbing the west face of Tucllarahu mountain in Peru’s Cordillera Blanca in the Ancash Region of central Peru.

The summit of the mountain is about 6,034 m (19,797 ft) high.

Some reports previously identified Maldonado as Donato Guies, also 28 years old.
