AGUASCALIENTES, MEXICO — The infamous all-female Aguascalientes state police force has been disbanded.
Dubbed one of the sexiest to date, the female squad usually decked out in heeled boots, tight uniforms and sunglasses was created by former state security chief Rolando Eugenio Hidalgo Eddy in 2013. Eddy thought the brigade would be a useful addition to the state police force for social events, and 20 female officers were selected to make up the division.
While the team did gain social media exposure that same year when they met with President Enrique Peña Nieto, the new Public Security Secretary, Eduardo Bahena Pineda, decided the sexy image was a distraction and uncomfortable for the officers.
The sexy image also brought up issues of credibility and public confidence. The squad was reduced to seven officers and ordered to become part of normal police operations and dress in standard uniforms.
The Mexican squad wasn't the only force to portray sexy woman in uniform. China has a reputation for using beautiful women dressed as PLA soldiers during parades. North Korea's female soldiers sport mini skirts as well. And it is rumored that the female bodyguards of slain Libyan dictator Muammar Gaddafi not only had to be beautiful and trained but also virgins.
