Man won't marry girlfriend offering him new car and $14,000
According to reports, the woman desperately wanted to marry her boyfriend, but wasn't able to quite get over his "cowardliness."
HENAN, CHINA — In recent local news out of China, a Chinese woman's marriage proposal was turned down in a very embarrassingly public way.
According to The Paper, the woman desperately wanted to marry her boyfriend, but wasn't able to quite get over his "cowardliness."
So she devised a challenge for him.
Standing atop the famous U-Shaped glass walkway at Fuxi Mountain in Henan while clad in a poofy, white wedding dress, she said she would marry him as long as he mustered up the courage to walk across the transparent bridge 350 meters up from the ground.
Now if love wasn't enough to get him across that bridge, she sweetened the deal with a brand new car and about $14,000 in cash.
But it appears even that wasn't enough, and although footage shows the man's friends pushing him and trying to talk him into crossing that figurative marital gangplank and literal glass walkway, he said no.
Then he ran away, saying that the woman was being irresponsible and that she was putting their relationship at risk.
Many are dismissing the entire event as merely a publicity stunt, but although staff members at the bridge admit to helping the woman execute her proposal, they said it was no stunt.
