Justice is Served
RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL — A man was treated to the most up close and personal MMA fight of his life after he tried jacking UFC fighter Polyana Viana's phone on Saturday night.
Viana told MMA Junkie that she was waiting for an Uber in front of her apartment in Rio de Janeiro around 8 p.m. when a guy approached her and got all up in her space.
He sat down right next to Viana and then asked her for the time. When she went to put her phone away, he told her to hand it over because he was armed.
The would-be mugger then put his hand over what looked to be a gun, but Viana thought it looked too soft to be real.
Turns out the mugger was too soft to be real as well.
According to Viana, "he was really close to me. So I thought, 'If it's a gun, he won't have time to draw it.' So I stood up. I threw two punches and a kick. He fell, then I caught him with a rear-naked choke. Then I sat him down in the same place we were before and said, 'Now we'll wait for the police.'"
After getting humiliatingly pummeled by Viana, the po po showed up to discover the guy's gun was just made out of cardboard.
The man was first taken to the hospital, then to the station where Viana filed a police report.
Turns out the human punching bag has been in and out of incarceration and had recently been released.
Good thing he's going back—it's probably safer for him on the inside anyways.
