GUANGXI, CHINA — A shocking accident caught on camera shows an inflatable bouncy castle in China's Guangxi province come loose in a gust of wind and fly into the air, taking with it a 3-year-old girl who was playing inside.
She did not survive.
The video shows a woman, reportedly the child's grandmother, frantically attempt to hold down the massive inflatable castle, but the strong winds were no match for a single person, and within five seconds the castle had lifted off the ground and flown high into the air. The unidentified 3-year-old girl was thrown to the ground and suffered severe injuries. She died a short time later.
Chinese news outlet CCTV quoted a health and safety official as saying the inflatable castle, which was set up in front of a supermarket, was unlicensed and did not meet safety standards. The castle was allegedly fixed to the ground with just a few wires and stones.
Chinese police say they are investigating the accident.
