Next Media is offering one million Hong Kong dollars for information leading the arrest of those behind a recent series of attacks on Hong Kong-based Next Media group and its chairman, Jimmy Lai (黎智英). Lai said he is not worried.
The latest attack --the fourth in 13 days-- came just hours after a machete was found outside the entrance of the Next Media building.
At about 12.30 a.m. on June 30, three armed and masked men torched some 26,000 copies of Sunday's edition of the Chinese-language Apple Daily in Central.
The spate of attacks began on June 19, when a stolen car was rammed into the front gate of Lai's house and an axe and a machete were left in on driveway.
A week later, two masked men intercepted a delivery van in Hung Hom and torched bundles of Apple Daily newspapers on the truck before fleeing.
