TIJUANA, MEXICO — Pop star Enrique Iglesias is recovering after his fingers were sliced open during a Saturday night concert when he attempted to grab a hold of a drone.
The 40-year-old Spanish singer had been performing at Tijuana's Plaza de Toros de Playa in front of a crowd of 12,000 as part of his Love and Sex World Tour.
Mid-way through the show, a DJI Inspire 1 drone being used to get crowd shots flew a bit too close to the pop sensation as he was serenading fans.
Things were terribly awry when Iglesias next decided to grab the drone with his hands.
He somehow caught the fingers of his right hand in the drone's propellers, slicing them open on-stage, Metro.co.uk reports.
The singer was partially treated immediately after the accident at the side of the stage to stop the bleeding, according to the Associated Press.
A representative advised him to end the show, but Iglesias refused and went on to perform for an additional 30 minutes.
TMZ reports the singer was immediately airlifted to a nearby airport, where he was met by an ambulance before being put on a plane bound for Los Angeles to see a specialist and receive further medical treatment.
