A cow fell through the roof of a small house in southeastern Brazil on Wednesday and dropped eight feet onto a man who was in bed, killing him while narrowly missing his wife. Caratinga police say Joao Maria de Souza, 45, and his wife were sleeping when the 1.5-ton cow fell through the asbestos roof and on top of him.
Police say the cow apparently escaped from a nearby farm and was grazing on a small hill above Souza's home before the incident.
Souza, who suffered a broken leg and internal bleeding, later died at hospital while waiting for treatment. His brother-in-law said it wasn’t the cow that killed Souza, but rather unacceptable time he waited to be examined.
