Baseball Explainer - 2017 Summer Universiade
A baseball game consists of two teams of nine players. Universiade goes by the “designated hitter” (DH) rule. Each team will throw, hit, run, and defend in the diamond shaped field.
The field has four bases. The batting team sends a batter on. Once they get a hit, the batter starts running from home base to first, second, third base, and when they run back to home base, they gain one point. Of course, earning points isn’t easy; players face many challenges and may get put out.
During batting, if three players are out, the two teams switch turns batting and fielding. Each game has nine innings, and each inning is divided into half innings for the teams to take turns batting. The team with the highest score at the end of the match wins!
