SYDNEY — An Australian man was able to get himself to a hospital after a deadly redback spider bit him on his manhood.
The construction worker was using a portable toilet at a building site on Wednesday morning when he had the unfortunate run in with the arachnid.
According to the Daily Telegraph paramedics were called to the scene, but by the time they arrived the man had already made his own way to the for treatment.
"He's somehow managed to get alternative transport to hospital," a NSW Ambulance spokesman said.
A spokesperson for St. George Hospital later confirmed that a 21-year-old man was treated for a redback bite.
The redback spider, closely related to the black widow spider, has a long red stripe on its abdomen.
A redback bite can cause severe pain, sweating and nausea.
The man was later discharged from the hospital in stable condition.
