WAUKEE, IOWA — Iowa's gender reveal parties are blowing up in a major way.
The Des Moines Register reported that central Iowa authorities responded to an explosion on Sunday around 5:30 p.m. just outside the Waukee city limits.
According to KCCI, a gender reveal party was set up in a vacant lot off Ute Street. Around 20 people were there for the event.
According to Waukee Fire Department Capt. Tommie Tysdal, the property owner used a Tannerite gender reveal boom kit.
And what better way to set off a gender reveal boom kit than by shooting it with a rifle.
He told authorities that he had warned his neighbors about the possibility of an explosion, but it turned out to be a little bit louder than he expected.
Unfortunately, the blast was so big it shook homes more than two miles away and blew out a neighbor's windows.
Luckily, no one was hurt in the boneheaded incident, which came only one day after another gender reveal party explosion ended in one less member of the family.
At this point, maybe people in Iowa should stop making little ones.
