The body of a 62-year-old American tourist was found in a suitcase at a resort hotel in Bali, Indonesia on Tuesday. The woman, Sheila von Wiese Mack, was allegedly killed by her daughter and her daughter’s boyfriend.
AFP reported that Mack and her daughter stayed at the St. Regis hotel in the Nusa Dua resort area of Bali together for several days before her daughter’s boyfriend joined them on Monday. Mack was recorded on CCTV arguing with her daughter’s boyfriend in the hotel lobby on Monday night.
On Tuesday Mack’s daughter and her boyfriend put a silver suitcase wrapped in a white bed sheet in the trunk of a taxi, the Jakarta Post reported. They then returned to the lobby, telling the taxi driver to wait for them. Almost two hours later, they were seen on CCTV leaving the hotel via a stretch of beach behind the hotel, instead of the main entrance.
The taxi driver took the suitcase to a police station, and Mack’s dead body was found inside. Police launched a search and found the pair sleeping at a hotel in Legian, north of Nusa Dua, early Wednesday.
