A Florida jockey was arrested Sunday after driving off with a deputy hanging from his truck during a traffic stop in Ocala. The entire thing was captured on newly released dash cam video.
Marion County sheriff's Deputy Christopher Frost pulled over a silver pickup truck after noticing the tags expired in 2007. After running a check, Frost found the driver was Abdiel Toribio, a jockey who had his license suspended seven times this year alone.
When Frost attempted to take Toribio into custody, Toribio restarted the truck and sped off with the deputy hanging from the side of his truck. Toribio didn’t stop until about 50 yards later.
He faces several charges, including driving while his license was suspended or revoked for DUI, an unregistered motor vehicle, attaching an unassigned tag to a motor vehicle, and resisting an officer with violence.
According to online reports, Toribio is a professional jockey with reported career earnings of $26.7 million.
